No one wants to have an Omicron kind of day. Now that we’ve had a month to get to know it, this mutation of the Coronavirus/Covid-19 is the dominant issue, sadly.
“The thing I tell people is if you’ve been outside your home – you went to the grocery store, you went anywhere – in the last week, you’ve stood next to Omicron,” he said. “The question is, did you stand there long enough and will you be one of the asymptomatic vaccinated people that will carry it and be done with it and move on?” – Don Mason, Island County’s COVID response manager, reported by Whidbey News-Times
Sigh.
Thanks to everyone who is masking, social distancing, and maintaining their vaccinations.
The local summary data;
To put it in perspective, the blip in April 2020 was what convinced us to lockdown. Omicron has far surpassed that.
I usually try to find something positive, which has been more difficult.
Repeating: Thanks to everyone who is masking, social distancing, and maintaining their vaccinations.
Imagine how much worse it would be without your help.
Your efforts and examples can help kids get back to school, people back to their jobs, and everyone back to being with each other without masks. Looking forward to seeing smiles, giving and receiving hugs, going to parades and dances and fairs and shows, and getting to enjoy island life in full, again. (It’s been so long we might have to practice re-socializing. Does that mean after the pandemic we should have more than parties than usual? Hard to imagine at this point.)
